From Our Workshop Counter to Your Kitchen
We founded Kettle & Cast after growing weary of disposable kitchen gadgets and flimsy digital lifehacks that failed in actual use. Mass media pushed coated pans that wore out in a year and superficial recipes that wasted good groceries.
We chose a slower, more deliberate route. In our test kitchen, we focus strictly on four dependable materials: seasoned cast iron, hard maple wood, pure beeswax, and coarse sea salt. We test each cleaning ratio and culinary technique repeatedly until it proves reliable.
Our journal remains independent and reader-supported. We print our journals on heavy recycled paper stock, package each issue in stiff protective mailers, and stand behind our work with direct subscriber correspondence and a straightforward return policy.
Material Honesty
We work exclusively with durable, tactile materials that can be repaired and maintained for decades. We never endorse synthetic shortcuts or unproven disposable tools.
Patience in Testing
We test recipes and cleaning hacks multiple times under real home conditions. If a technique fails our domestic trials, we discard it completely.
Subscriber Respect
We fund our writing through readers rather than corporate advertising. We answer every inquiry directly and pack our print editions with durable care.
We test every household lifehack three times on our own kitchen counters before we write a single word of instruction.
Julian VanceLead Culinary & Workshop EditorHow We Test and Verify
We execute every cleaning lifehack and culinary method three times on our own kitchen counters before writing a single line. Every printed volume is examined by hand for crisp binding before dispatch.
We investigate domestic routines with patience, recording only repeatable kitchen workflows and genuine material care. Our notes rely on bench trials across seasoned cast iron and hard maple.
